Law No. 262 of 2005 introduced, for Italian listed companies, the mandatory appointment of the “Executive Responsible for the preparation of accounting documents”. In particular, it assigns to this role the responsibility to establish adequate administrative and accounting procedures for the preparation of the annual financial statements and the consolidated financial statements in the case of a Group, as well as any other financial communication.

A2A, being subject to this regulation as a listed company along with some of its Group companies, expressed the need to make the entire 262 Risk Management System more effective and efficient, which had until then been managed through manual activities and office automation tools such as email, Excel, and Word.

IMC, in partnership with BIP, supported the Group in defining and implementing a technological infrastructure using the ARIS platform (by Software AG) capable of facilitating, digitalizing, and supporting all phases of the 262 risk, control, and verification management process, from the identification of in-scope companies to the automatic scheduling of verifications on controls in place, from the preparation and archiving of documentation necessary for control evaluation to related reporting and monitoring.

The project not only enabled the digitalization of the entire management process but also the construction of monitoring dashboards to facilitate the governance of regulatory obligations.
